The Gloucestershire Regiment

The 28th Foot was raised in 1694 as Gibsons Regiment, the 61st in 1756.

In 1782 they were affiliated to become North and South Gloucestershires, and in 1881 they became the 1st and 2nd Battalions then reduced in 1948 to one Battalion.

Amalgamated in 1994 with The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment as The Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment.
