The Suffolk Regiment

12thFoot raised in 1685 as the Duke of Norfolk's Regiment, became the East Suffolk Regiment in 1782.

There is a museum in Bury St. Edmunds and the Colours are laid up in St Mary's Church, Bury St. Edmunds.

In 1959 the regiment amalgamated with The Royal Norfolk Regiment to form The 1st East Anglian Regiment, in 1964 this became the 1st Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, which wears the castle and key as its cap badge.
